Installing an event receiver in a document library

To make a document library available for GCF collaboration, you must attach an event receiver to the document library:

  1. Start EventHandlerInstaller.exe from the following folder in the distribution package:

    <Setup>\ SharePoint\GcfService\EventHandler

The Event Handler Installer window appears.

  2. Type the URL of the site collection into Site URL and click the Lists button. All document libraries available in the site collection appear in the list.
  3. Click the Assembly button and select the file BC.GcfServices.dll that you copied in Installing the GCF Web Service . The event receiver class name appears in Handler.
  4. Select the document library from List that you want to use with GCF and click the Register Handler button.

You may also register an event receiver from a command line using the following syntax:

EventHandlerInstaller.exe <SiteURL> <LibraryName> [reg] [<EventHandlerAssemblyPath>]

To unregister an event receiver, run the command with the following syntax:

EventHandlerInstaller.exe <SiteURL> <LibraryName> unreg

Both methods register the file BC.GcfService.dll that is located in the same folder as the executable.
